Confessions Of A Grammatically And Stylistically Inept Blogger.

Blogging 101 1 Comment »

When It comes to grammar and writing style, I suck. My spelling could use some improvement too, but spell checking saves me.

There I said it. It’s in the open.
You now, know my deep and dark secret.
Well the truth is you probably new that already from reading my other posts.

So. Why am I telling you this, and why am I still blogging?

Well. I want you to realize that you don’t have to be a great writer to have your own blog, in fact I know of some bad writers that have good blogs. People will come to you if your ideas are sound, even if your writing lacks flair. I’m not deluding myself into thinking I write well, but I know that I have good ideas to share.

As of this post I will have 100 posts. If you look at my earlier post you will see great improvement. Though far from great, I am getting better. The lesson, practice may not make perfect, but it can move you a little farther from ’sucks’.

Lastly. I have a dream of one day writing a book. With the help of comments from fellow bloggers, my ideas will be clarified and refined. When I am ready I will take my great ideas, put a book outline together, and deliver it to a ghost writer who, will use their grammatic and stylistic skills to create a great book.

Weakness is no excuse for not moving forward.

Since I’ve been back from vacation I have hardly posted. I have a number of post in the working, but none seem to be expressing my thoughts properly. It’s not so much “Posters Block” as it is word and structure block.

If an athlete takes a two week break from physical regime, when they return they will find that they are not at the peak that they were two weeks prior. And to return to that peak they have to take things easy for a few days and begin the process of reconditioning them selves.

As the saying goes; “If you don’t use it you loose it”.

This holds true in all things, whether physical, intellectual, or emotional. And when it has been lost, you have to take it easy and recondition yourself. Part of that process is realizing that you will not be able to just continue at the same peak you left off at.

For me too, I realize that for a few days my posts wont be up to the quality that I had 2-3 weeks ago. Though I do know that by the end of next week I will be better than I was before I took my vacation.

Is It How You End, Or How You Begin?

For some the year is coming to a close, for others the new year has already begun. What was your focus as 2006 came to an end? Was it how you spent the past year, how you were going to party New Years eve, or how you are going to approach the year ahead? Maybe a combination of all three.

Though reflecting on the previous year can be insightful, and planning the year ahead can help us know where we want to go, it is the actions of NOW that will ultimately define were we are going.

As we live our moments, so we live our days. As we live our days so we live our years. As we live our years, so we live our LIFE. The actions you take today will define who you are tomorrow.

Many cultures approach their New Year in different way. There is an ancient culture that believes that how you treat the first day of the year is how the rest of your year will be. On their New Year, they don’t sleep in, they don’t laze around, and they don’t have a hangover. They spend the day building their relationships, learning about who they are and what they need to do. They try to have positive thoughts and positive actions. They set the proper foundation for the year ahead.

Maybe this is something we can incorporate in to our New Years? We had a good time last night and we are looking forward to a chill day today. But maybe we can begin to lay the foundations of the year ahead.
If you want to get in shape this year, do ten push-ups and sit-ups TODAY.

If you want to improve your finances read a book or blog on success for five minutes TODAY.

If you want to improve your relationship spend quality time (turn of the TV) with the person you love TODAY.

Set the foundations of tomorrow, TODAY.

I am looking forward to sharing the journey of personal and professional success in the coming year. To see our purpose realized. To help us reach our best selves.

May you see much success, health and happiness in the coming year.
Lets Begin… TODAY

Wait… Never!

In 2006 I planned to begin Tomorrow. Every morning I would wake up, only to find Today.

So I waited.

In 2006 I was frustrated with what I didn’t accomplish Yesterday. I tried to get back, but every morning I would wake up and only find Today.

So I waited.

In 2006 I wanted to know everything before I started. There was always more to learn.

So I waited.

In 2006 I waited for the perfect moment. It was always lacking.

So I waited.

In 2006 I feared change and failure.

So I waited.

At the end of 2006 I realized that Tomorrow and Yesterday are out of my reach. I only have Today. That there will always be more to learn, that the only one perfect moment is now, and fear is powerful when we embrace it.

In 2007.

I stopped waiting.
