Selling An Oyster Pearls.

Well, after being sick for almost 7 weeks already (grrrr) and having a baby 10 days ago (YAY!) I am finally getting back into the swing of things.

I am starting the week off with two exciting projects. One is testing a Attraction Marketing Program, and the second is building my network within LinkedIn.

One big Aha and one big reflections came up for me in starting these projects.

The Aha, was with the Attraction Marketing Program. Here I had a step by step program that should help me to build my Professional Coaching practice, but I didn’t have the time to put into it. I then realized that I could hold the vision and goal for a project but not be at the center of it. So I hired a student to spend 3-5hrs per day to follow the program and test it for me. The investment is small and the risk is low, considering the fact that I have already used similar ideas to grow my businesses.

The Reflection and focus of this post was in building my LinkedIn network.

My desire is to focus my Professional Coaching towards Business Executives and Teams. I needed to connect with people that fit this category. The logical venue for this seemed to be LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a social network for business professionals. Unlike networks such as Facebook and Twitter which have a more casual feel to them, LinkedIn users are there to focus on their business and profession.

In reaching out to LinkedIn users in my contact list, I actively bypassed fellow Coaches and began making contact with as diverse a crowed as possible.

As I was going through the process, I reflected on how so many networking circles/events put people of the same profession/business together. What is the likelihood of a bunch of real estate agents getting together and selling each other houses, or referring their own clients to the competition?

When approaching Networking, I think there should be to areas of focus.

1. Peer Networking – This is where you get together with peers in the same field and share ideas and help each other grow. There are plenty of people to serve, more that you can handle in a lifetime. Sharing ideas will help you improve and grow your profession as a whole. I would recommend going networking on this level at the least on a quarterly basis.

2. Customer/Client Networking – This is where you are looking for business. In this situation avoid your business peers like the plague. Look for events where there will be a diverse group of people that meet the criteria of your target market. If you meet someone who is in the same field as you, be polite, but limit your conversation, you are on a mission to find customers/clients to serve, not to share ideas. You should be going to these events (on or offline) as often as you feel you need to make your business grow.

Ultimately when you are about to begin a networking process, the first step is to THINK about what your vision and goals are.

Questions you can ask yourself:

What is my purpose for Networking?
What is the outcome that I am looking for?
How will this event serve my purpose and objectives?
How do I need to prepare myself?

How Do You Want YOUR Business To Look.

Last night I finished reading Ann Seig’s latest E-book The Attraction Marketers Manifesto . Out of 75 pages I found well over 70% of it to be valuable.

As I have said before I am not into MLM, DM, Matrix Marketing etc. That being said I do see the value in these types of businesses, their just not my interest. I like helping others build business.

As a Coach, consultant and business owner, I have benefited greatly from Ann’s efforts.

Are there any magic bullet or free rides? No.

Her ideas are sound and they take work (If you believe in free money and think money grows on trees I have a few solar-systems I can sell you for a good price.)

Ann is super-focused on building businesses on the Internet, she works hard cultivating the information. You get to read the Coles Notes.

In a super nutshell the messages are.

Believe in yourself.

Create Value.

Share Knowledge.

Focus on Giving.

If you are a business owner, coach, consultant, MLMer, Doctor, Lawyer, etc. this free e-book is an immensely worthwhile read.

You have to trust in your ability to adapt the ideas to your business. Do you beleive in you?

I am getting ready to begin the second read and will put a list of Twitter length tips together.

You can follow me on twitter at

I’ve also dusted off this post:

Live Your Best Life By Serving Others.

Let me know how I can serve you.

All the best,

Rob

It’s About You.

About a year ago I bought a book by Ann Sieg called The Renegade Network Marketer, at $67 and a free money back guarantee, I figured it was worth checking out.

The book was well worth the money and as an added bonus I used the affiliate system when telling others about it and ended up making some extra money as well.

Now as I have told others, I am not into MLM, DM, MM or Network Marketing, but I do like information that I can apply to my own businesses (Online Labels and Executive Coaching). Ann’s book became a very useful resource in helping me develop my own projects.

I think part of the strength of Ann’s efforts is that she is YOU focused. She gives you the tools for your success independent of her objectives. Yes you can be an affiliate and benefit from her products, but you can also use the “You Focused” material to create your own space and follow your own business passions.

Whether you are are interested in starting your own business or are already a successful business person, Ann’s books will give you the information and insights you need to get into hight gear.

A few days ago Ann released The Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto
a FREE 75 page PDF.

In it, you’ll find out how to simplify information overload and master the basics of online MLM business building.

Again her focus is MLM, DM, Network Marketing. But if you are capable of lateral thinking (which I’m sure you are) you can use the information to build your own success, in whatever business you choose to apply it to.

Lastly if you are looking for quick fixes and magic money, you may not want to bother even reading the free Manifesto. Success takes effort, end of story.

Click on the link below to get the FREE copy, and when you finish reading come back and let me know what your thoughts are.

How Can I Give You Business? To Be Successful, Become A Giver.

As a volunteer project, I work on an annual community bulletin. I was leaving our community center and I met a person who will be advertising in our upcoming bulletin. Until that point we had really only known each other through email. So when we met he asked me two questions. One nice and one powerful.

The first question he asked, “What was my livelihood?” A nice question polite and shows some interest. The second question, “How can I give you business?” Wow! Now here is a person that is going to go far. He didn’t start telling me about what he did, he didn’t ask me if I needed his service, he didn’t even ask for referrals. He asked how he could give me business.

This person realized that before you can benefit from others you have to first become a giver.

When you become a giver is speaks volumes about you; It says that you think of others before you think of yourself, that you are not just interested in making an easy buck, you value people, you want to help.

There are so many ways to give. Being a giver doesn’t mean that you have to spend a lot of time and money. Yes these are aspect of giving too. But giving can also just be a warm and sincere smile to a person you pass on the street.

When you give to others it lifts them up. It makes them feel good.

And when the time comes that they become the givers, you are the person that comes to mind.

Though at the present time this person was not able to give me any business, his simple act of wanting to give has left an indelible impression on me. And when I am ready to build or renovate, he will be the first person to come to mind.

Update for July 27,2009

When you think of attraction marketing, you might only look at it as making connections with others so they will buy your product or service. This would just be cloaked form of selling. Though you realize the need to make an income your priority in attraction marketing is to create connections and give/share value. If you do this well then the likelyhood is strong that you will also benefit financially. Understand when you better somone elses life and put their needs ahead of yours, they ultimately want to do the same for you.
