5. Thank You.

When you are thinking of a title for a post you want to have a header that captures it all, that really drives home what you are about to read. Tonight I am at a loss, the only thing that comes to mind is “Thank You.”

I went to a Mesh gathering tonight at the Irish Pub in Toronto. Mesh Is a organization that brings Web 2.0 people together to share Ideas, and Inspire each other to greater levels of success. Stuart Macdonald, one of the founders of Mesh did a great job tonight. He was warm, friendly and he made sure that everyone was connecting.

I went to the event because I am new to the blogosphere and I saw an opportunity to learn. I wanted to know the key to blogging success, and Mark Evans of b5media summed it up in one word.

Passion.

Everyone that I met was extremely passionate about what they do, and they are all experiencing varying levels of success.

The beauty of learning from passionate people, it that their passion is contagious, it rubs off on you. You come out feeling energized and determined ready to succeed.

I would like to tell you about some of the passionate people that I met this evening and what I learned about and from them.

One of the first few people I met was Leesa Barnes. She has a blog called Podonomics. Her blog is about how pod-casting can help you take your business to hire levels of success. She was interviewing a number of bloggers, seeing what they were up to, and  what ideas they had to share. I imagine this information will be used for an upcoming podcast on her site in order to give her readership fresh Ideas, and to help them grow.

What really impressed me about Leesa was her dedicated attention to the person she was interviewing. Her eyes were intense but warm. She really cared about what you had to say. She did not get off topic. If you asked her about herself she would answer briefly and then gently draw you back to what you had to share. A gifted listener.

Next was Sacha Chua. Her business card sums it up; Tech Evangelist, Connector, Geek “My Passion in connecting people, ideas, and technologies. How can I help you?”

This are not just empty words on a piece of paper. She is a generator of energy, excitement and passion. With in a few minutes Sacha had asked me a number of questions about what I am doing and where I am going, and how I want to get there. And then immediately after that she introduced me to a few people who could help me along my path of success, and informed me that she would be emailing me with additional information that would be of benefit to me.
Sacha is all about you, she is not thinking about personal gain, she is only interested in helping you. She is sure to succeed.

Adam Clare of Things Are Good is a broadcaster of hope. So often you see people walking around as if the world is a hopeless cesspool of doom, Adam shows you that great and wonderful things are happening all around us, you just don’t know it because the media monsters of the world are more interested in the mighty dollar that in the betterment of mankind. I read a study saying that the one of the worst thing for a persons emotional health in watching the news before you go to bed. All that talk about war and hate leaves a negative imprint on you mind as you sleep. Want to sleep peacefully? Spend a few minutes on Things Are Good before you go to bed and you will wake up feeling refreshed and positive about the world around you.

A wealth of information and ideas is Peter Dawson, his blog Thought Flickr’s .
I can best describe Peter as a World Forensicist. He can look at a moment in time and show how everything connects. We see a glass of beer. Peter sees grains of silica and hops and the path that ends in a glass of beer.
I asked peter is tips to succeed.

1. Have the right work ethic.

2. Prove yourself.

3. Love what you do (passion).

I also had the opportunity to meet a blogging giant. Darren Rowse of ProBlogger . For those of you who have not been to Darren’s blog. He is one of the authorities on developing blogs and generating money from them. Though not what I expected, it was no surprise after meeting many of the other bloggers this evening. Darren was warm and personable, and incredibly willing to share he ideas with you. He also has a great Aussie accent.

A few of the ideas he shared with me as a blogger just getting started.

-Have Quality Content. Don’t write for the sake of writing.

-Tell stories.

-Have some pillar articles. Have a few posts on your blog that you re-work to perfection. These post are the ones that initially draw people to you.

- Set long term goals. Where are you going with your blog.

- Have monthly strategies. Don’t be all over the place.

Lastly I met Rohan Jayasekera who is a product development consultant. For the layman, a software designer. Friendly and informative he gave me a great insight in to developing inexpensive software for one of my businesses. The site is called http://www.rentacoder.com/ . You submit your detailed software requirements and coders bid on your project. You pay substantially less than using high end developers. This is great for small businesses on a small budget, but if you want it done by a top notch professional contact Rohan.
