The past few days I have been thinking a lot about beliefs and convictions (not the criminal type). In my life there are many beliefs that I have, like; Family and G-d are of primary importance, making my wife happy, being a good father, meaning in life is through giving to others, I have the ability to help people through my coaching, living healthy is a sure way to greater fulfillment in life, etc..

But as I reflected on these beliefs I began to wonder, Do I show any real conviction in these beliefs? The answer was no.

So big deal, I don’t have convictions will that really have such a big impact on my life?

When I think about people that have made a positive difference in this world, like David Ben Gurion, Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, I see people who took their belief to the level of conviction. These people could have sat comfortably at home and cared about the world in thought, but instead through conviction they translated those beliefs into powerful and passionately dedicated action.

So is it a big deal? For me the answer is a resounding YES!

King David said (Psalm 90:10) Our years are 70, and if we have great strength 80.

I am only in this life for a short time, I can live it to the fullest or let it pass by. I want to realize the fullness of my abilities in this world. I don’t want to just know the greatness that rests inside of me, I want to share it. I want my impact in the world to be more than just displacing earth when I am buried at the end of my days.

A Belief Becoming A Conviction.

I have always known that I have the gift of helping others improve their lives. Since my childhood I have often found myself in situations where I have been there for others and supported them in their growth. For the past 3 years I have been working with clients to help them gain greater leadership in their businesses and lives, to create success with balance. But even with a steady practice I have realized that I am serving my clients with the casualness of a belief instead of the passion of a conviction.

Awareness precedes change and change happens in an instant. I have begun to ignite that belief with the passion of conviction. I want to utilize my abilities fully to create profound and positive impact in peoples lives. Though my passion is business, I see that the tools I use can help in health, addiction, relationships, etc.

Think of five non-fashion things in your life that you bought and use- My guess is that no one had to sell it to you.

Now think of five non-fashion things that you bought, but had to be SOLD ON. – I bet they are in a closet gathering dust.

It’s amazing that business builders and buyers don’t catch on to this amazing subtlety.

Biz Builders

If you have to SELL the customer, they don’t want it.

Buyers

If you have to be SOLD you don’t want it.

If we could integrate this awareness three great things would happen:

1. There would be know more annoying sales people.

2. We would have more money to buy the things we do want.

3. We would have less junk in our homes gathering dust. – (If you do have this junk throw it out now! It will be very freeing)

So what’s the key to building a successful business where people will buy your products and services?

Find something that relates to what you are passionate about.
Something that has value to you and others.

When you apply your energy to that which you are passionate about, and that thing has values to others, you know longer have to sell, you can just share.

I’ll give you an example.

The Sellers

Some popular lines might be:

“I run a consulting company, which helps other organizations and companies start and expand their business.”

or

“I help people realize their financial dreams, using proven business strategies”

There is a article here showing horrendous tips.

Translation:

I would like you to get involved in my network marketing business and sell Mops/Supplements/Feminine Product (I had to put this one in because someone in Twitter was trying to convince me how much I needed them)

Another pitch might be.

“Hey Baldy. You want to be able to pick up the ladies. Well you need this spray on hair.”
Translation: I’m going to play on your low self esteem so I can get you to spray paint on your head.

A big clue that you are being sold is that the seller is being vague or targeting your insecurities.

The Sharers

The originators of internet search engines:

I would imagine that the people who developed search engines had a desire to see things more organized and functional on line, and their passion was to figure it out.

Most search engines that have come on the scene are free and only because they have grown through their value, have begun to monetize via advertising.

Successful Fast Food Restaurants:

Love for making quality food. Created added value to customers by getting it to them fast.

A personal example:

About a year and a half ago I entered the world of personal coaching. I get energized from helping others achieve their best. When I meet people in person, I don’t give them any sales pitches, I usually focus on them. In most cases a person will ask me what I do, and only at that point I share that I am a Life Coach. If they ask me what that is, I share. If the ask me more about it, I share. If they want examples I share. And when they hire me as a coach I serve and share.
If after I tell them what I do, they don’t ask more questions, then we go on to the next subject. I share if asked. I don’t try to push my services on others.

So what are your next steps?

1. Discover the things you are passionate about – Not everything can be monetized. Some of our passions are just things that give us personal value in life.

2. Choose a passion that is of value to others – Whether a product or service. Clarify what the value is for other people. Not everyone is going to have the same passion as you, but as the internet has shown you that there are enough people to fill almost all the passion niches.

3. Share your passion – Don’t force, push, or deceive. Just be passionate about what you do, and when asked share with others.

Apply these techniques and you will see that there is no need to sell. You customer will come to you because they want more of what you were willing to share.

Coaching questions to help you discover your passion:

What do you value?

What do you enjoy doing?

What are your hobbies?

What discussion topics get you energized?

What would you enjoy doing, even if there was no pay?

Well. There you have it. The secret is out.

You thought that the best way to realize your life purpose and experience your best self, was to go away on a motivational weekend, read lots of books, or go to endless workshops. Little did you know that the key do discovering your true essence was to improve you personal hygiene.

I’m sure your hygiene is fine and that you are showering on a regular basis, so you must be thinking “If what you say is true why haven’t I figured IT out?”

In order to grow forward we require three phases.

The First Phase is Awareness.

We need to know what we want to work on, improve, discover.

The Second Phase is Choice.

We have to decide what the next steps are. What we have to do to achieve what we have just become aware of.

The Third Phase is Action.

We know what we want. We know what we have to do. Now we have to ACT.

Back to the Shower.

Have you ever noticed how time can just fly right by while you are in the shower?

One minute you are washing your hair and then 20 minutes later you suddenly realize that you are still washing your hair.

There is something about the combination of being alone with hot water beating rhythmically on your skin. You just can’t help going deep inside yourself.

When we are in the shower we manage to solve all the problems of the world. We improve our relationships, we improve our businesses, we improve our spirituality, and we even get to spend time with our greatest self.

So why am I not experiencing growth afterall I have been showering for X years?

Back to the Phases.

While we are in the shower we experience the first two phases. We become aware and we come up with ideas to reach the new awareness.

Unfortunately when we turn of the water and step out of the shower we leave it all behind. We jump back into our lives and forget everything until we need another cleaning.

ACT. ACT. ACT.

Once you have completed the first two phases, you must take ACTION.

There is no success, there is no growth without action.

Action turns your shower dreaming into dry goods.

Does anyone know where I can get a waterproof computer?
