Conviction To Impacting Lives

The past few days I have been thinking a lot about beliefs and convictions (not the criminal type). In my life there are many beliefs that I have, like; Family and G-d are of primary importance, making my wife happy, being a good father, meaning in life is through giving to others, I have the ability to help people through my coaching, living healthy is a sure way to greater fulfillment in life, etc..

But as I reflected on these beliefs I began to wonder, Do I show any real conviction in these beliefs? The answer was no.

So big deal, I don’t have convictions will that really have such a big impact on my life?

When I think about people that have made a positive difference in this world, like David Ben Gurion, Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, I see people who took their belief to the level of conviction. These people could have sat comfortably at home and cared about the world in thought, but instead through conviction they translated those beliefs into powerful and passionately dedicated action.

So is it a big deal? For me the answer is a resounding YES!

King David said (Psalm 90:10) Our years are 70, and if we have great strength 80.

I am only in this life for a short time, I can live it to the fullest or let it pass by. I want to realize the fullness of my abilities in this world. I don’t want to just know the greatness that rests inside of me, I want to share it. I want my impact in the world to be more than just displacing earth when I am buried at the end of my days.

A Belief Becoming A Conviction.

I have always known that I have the gift of helping others improve their lives. Since my childhood I have often found myself in situations where I have been there for others and supported them in their growth. For the past 3 years I have been working with clients to help them gain greater leadership in their businesses and lives, to create success with balance. But even with a steady practice I have realized that I am serving my clients with the casualness of a belief instead of the passion of a conviction.

Awareness precedes change and change happens in an instant. I have begun to ignite that belief with the passion of conviction. I want to utilize my abilities fully to create profound and positive impact in peoples lives. Though my passion is business, I see that the tools I use can help in health, addiction, relationships, etc.

Help Yourself or Help Others.

I would like to make time for you. To help you get unstuck, catapult forward, create balance. I would like to help anyone you care about.

Why Did It Take Harry Potter Seven Books To Beat Lord Voldemort

The easy answer is money. A if you have a billion dollar franchise you try to keep it going for as long as humanly possible.

But I want to go deeper here. In all the stories where you have the wet behind the ears hero, it is rarely some new skill that he learned that helps him defeat the enemy. What often happens is that the hero comes to that critical moment where he either loses it all or gives it his all. At that point the hero accesses every fiber of his being and conquers the enemy, often using abilities that before that moment he didn’t even realize he had, but the truth is that they were there all along.

I’m sure in your own life you have had these experiences as well, though I hope your enemies have not be evil sorcerers and the like. Your enemies might be; laziness, bad eating, smoking, drinking, failed relationships, low ambition, financial waste or your own limiting beliefs about yourself. But there are times when without any other resources you manage to dig deep and overcome.

Three weeks ago after a five weeks sick leave (pneumonia) from playing squash, I got back on the court. The first few games I was getting winded easily, and I could barely get any points off my opponent. By the end of the second week my game was still lousy, part of me wanted to give up. I could not seem to get past this wall of lousy playing, what was all the more frustrating was that I wasn’t even getting tired during the games. I couldn’t get my legs to move, and my arms had no push. On Monday after losing five three games in a row I reached the enough is enough point. It was either give up or break the wall. The fourth game was an improvement and the fifth game I won. Yesterday and today when I got off the court I had won a number of games and as well was thoroughly drenched with sweat from going all out. I broke through the wall.

I didn’t learn any new skills that Monday, I didn’t use any energy drinks, I just accessed what I knew was within me.

I was speaking to a client today discussing the importance of clarifying her long term vision. I asked her to write what she would like her life to look like five years from now. I asked that she write it in the present tense as if it was already her reality. I explained to her that when she is totally clear on her vision then she will unleash the gifts and talents that are sleeping inside to rapidly move towards the realization of that vision. I shared with her that I believed that she was creative, resourceful and whole, and that her success in life is already loaded up onto the projector inside of her, she just needs to shine it out into the world.

Know that you have the ability to overcome your inner enemies. You have the tools inside of you. Your success in life is already loaded up on the projector inside of you, turn the switch and let it shine into the world.

Giving A $1,000,000 Value

The man who chases two rabbits, catches neither ~ Confucius

I spent the day at a cottage on Lake Simcoe today.

My partner and I wanted to get away from the city and work on vision for our coaching practice. There is nothing like getting out of the city and sitting in nature by the water to help creative ideas flow.

Though we do what we do because we love it, at the end of the day we also need to support our families.

Since I got his with pneumonia my perspective on how I want to focus on my coaching has changed. It was clear to me that if I would focus on coaching and making money I would dilute my focus in both.

The truth is that it is not so practical to focus and build your business by holding an amount that you want to make in your minds eye. Our mind it most effective when it is given a direction or request that gives it the ability to become laser like in its focus. When you give the directive to your brain that you want to make x dollars then it will see everything as a way to make money. Sell more volume, take this job, take that job, start this business, start that business. Making x dollars is so vague.

This creates an even bigger challenge if you are already working on a business. You are trying to grow your business but with a x dollar focus your brain keeps distracting you because in the short term your actions might not be making any money. So you end up being in constant battle with your mind over what to focus on.

Focus On Value

I would hope that in whatever business you do you strive to give great value. Whether product or service, your focus should be adding value to your customers lives, businesses etc. Where a dollar amount alone is so vague, attaching it to value can rocket your business growth.

Lets say you business is bringing in $100,000 a year. You want to take your business to the next level. You sit down to right out your vision and the essence of it is; I want to make $300,000 in my business in the next 24months. With a focus like that you will find your self constantly looking at your sales numbers. If you are lucky to come up with an idea of value you will constantly be distracted by checking the sales numbers because your brain needs to know if it is taking you towards more money, because that’s what you told it your goal is.

Now instead lets say your vision was; In the next 24 months I wish to give $300,000 of valuable service in x to my clients. Though the difference may seem subtle the impact is incredible. Your mind immediately focus’s on finding ways to add greater value to your customers. You gets creative and value focus. You don’t spend time constantly looking at numbers because your brain isn’t focused on money its focused on creating greater value. As a result you are constantly checking your business to ensure that more value is being added, your customers are more satisfied with your product or service, that your relationship with your customers is deeper and stronger. Instead of looking at sales numbers constantly you are looking into affiliate programs and add ons and product enhancements and joint venture partnerships.

And the amazing thing. As you create that amazing value for your customers, the financial growth starts to happen almost magically. Your current customers will buy more often and refer you, and your new customers will more readily recognize the value in buying from you.

Give it a try for just one month and you will be blown away by your shift in focus and your ability to create more rapid growth in your business.
