The Earth Is Flat – Wrong

A rocket will never be able to leave the Earth’s atmosphere.” —NY Times, 1936 – Wrong

Fruit Flies have a life span of 24hrs – Wrong

The moon is made from green cheese –

There was a time that many people believed that the world was flat. And if you sailed past the horizon you would fall off the world. Looking back its almost laughable. People actually living their lives thinking this way.

There are tons of misconceptions. You can see a whole bunch here .

The interesting thing is that at one point a misconception was a reality for someone. As far as they were concerned it was the absolute truth. A truth that would be defended with every ounce of strength.

So what is reality? We take all the information we have available and create a logical assumption out of it. At one point we looked up and saw the sun, moon and stars moving across the sky. We made the assumption that the universe revolved around the earth. We made our truth based on the information we believed in. Galileo’s improvement to the telescope and insights into what was happening in the heavens showed that truth to be in error and brought us to a new reality.

Back To You

You have created a number of limiting realities for yourself but they are not necessarliy the truth. You might have had an experience in your life where something didn’t go well and you decided to create the reality that you Just Can’t.

Here are some popular ones.

I cant remember names.
I’m not good with numbers.
I can’t lose weight.
I’m not creative.
I’m a failure.
I’m not good with finances.
I’m a horrible parent/spouse/friend.
What are some of yours?

But the real truth is that you can change your reality at anytime. You just have to bring new insights, awareness and beleif.

Pick a small limiting beleif that you currently have. Maybe you have the belief that you are not creative.

Try this:

1. Take as much time as you would like and draw a face.

2. On a scale of 1-10 evaluate you work.

3. go to http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-draw-a-face

4. Take 20-30 min to work through the 5 min video

5. On a scale of 1-10 evaluate you second face.

If you thought you are not artistic you will now see a measurable improvement. Your previous reality is now false and you have a new reality that shows you can be artistic.

Many of your limiting realities just need the right tools and insights to take you toward empowering realities that lead to the realization of your full potential.

Pick something that is holding you back and find the tools and insight that will help you move forward.

Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresea, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein. ~Life’s Little Instruction Book, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

It is amazing how I can work with a client to create a powerful vision, strategy and action plan of what their business can become, and then when we get together the following week nothing has happened. When I ask the client what happened the answer is often I just couldn’t find the time.

When we have become so accustomed to having our lives run on autopilot. We believe that the way our life is running is the way it must be and there is absolutely no changing it.

Have you every gone on vacation. Isn’t it amazing how you can free up all that time, and do things that are completely different from your day-to-day. And when you return from vacation your life has not fallen apart, your job is still there, your friends are still your friends. The only difference was that for a short time you set a different priority and you planned accordingly.

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. – Neil Peart.

It is all about what you set as a priority in your life. Once you decide that your best is truly the only thing you will work towards you’ll begin to see the time to make it happen almost magically appear.

Vision – I can’t stress the importance of this enough. Weak visions create weak desire, weak commitment, and weak change. Your vision must be one that totally fires you up. For 30 days spend 10-15 minutes each day reviewing and reworking your vision until it becomes your own personal Magnum Opus.

Life Track and Smack – Make a list of all the things you do on a daily basis. Be as detailed as possible. Cover work, family, fun, free time. Write down everything that you do. Go through this list (If your Vision is in hand all the better), decide if each thing on your list is positive, negative or neutral in your journey towards a better live and living. If it is negative SMACK it out of your life. If it is positive strengthen it. If it is neutral get clarity around it. I don’t think there are many actions that are neutral in our life, we are either growing or moving back. One way to get clarity on the neutral items and even the negative and positive ones is to go to reflect on your last day in the world. If you spent your whole life doing this action would your feel happy, sad or indifferent. If your feeling is joy, its a keeper. If its sad or indifferent SMACK it! Clearing those items from your life will help you make time for what is important to you.

Time Block Your Week – At the beginning of each week take out your calendar and plan your week. Make a list of the things that are important to you to get done; Meetings, Journaling, Quiet Time, Exercise, Family… Once you have your list BLOCK off time in your week for those things first. Then once all the important things are blocked off, you can add in the lesser things.

Beware the minutes – Time adds up. I heard recently that the average Canadian spends 17 hours/week checking emails, tweeting, facebooking, snapping pictures…. I’ve spent a week not even touching the internet without any productivity loss. Value your time like precious jewels, when you waste it its like throwing diamonds away.

Your amazing life is waiting to be realized by you. Create a powerful Vision, SMACK time and life wasters out of your life, put the worthy first, and value every moment.

Have an awesome day.
